Knitting Weekend

This weekend was all about knitting.

Firstly I finally finished the Hoodie (my film festival project) a few weeks late. It looks fantastic and is currently blocking.
I want to put hooks of some sort on the inside to hold it together at the centre.

Yesterday I cast on the Bolero cardigan for O in Knitabulous Super Twist Merino Acid Test Colourway. It is very very YELLOW.

The knit is very quick and I have finished the back and one and half front pieces.
I had lots of time to knit with another delightful Sunday afternoon knitting get-together this time at LynS place.

Just Knitting

This morning I started my day with some knitting. Each year during the film festival I have a dedicated project - normally this is socks as they are portable, easy to work on in small bursts and generally plain and able to be knitted in the dim lighting of the State Theatre.

This year I am up for a challenge (Challenge CHALLENGE)

I have a big project on the go I am knitting the Susie Hoodie in Cascade Heathers - Purple Jewel. The progress so far is shown below - measurement at seamless seems is 23cm.

The pattern is not complex being mainly stocking stitch. It is only the cable, the bias shaping and waist shaping on different repeat numbers being opportunities for error. I am really happy with the colour (surprise) but also the drape and construct of this pattern.

To totally call out the challenge I am going to finish this project by the end of the Film Festival (Big call) but it has been going quite well with limited knitting time. I will update with the measurement of the knitting each day as we progress through June (specifically the Film Festival).

It is also my first project using spit splicing following a wonderful presentation at the Inner City Guild in April (Thanks Web-Goddess and Vintage Grrl for a fabulous lesson).

Wet Weekend and a Mixed Bag

The weekend saw me progressing a few knitting projects in different ways

FINISHED
Final block on the Mountain View Cardi (Purple Mountain on Ravelry)
Toe-Up Slipped stitch Socks in The Knittery's slim sock (PSC - August in Arrears project on Ravelry).

PROGRESSED
I have also now turned the heel on Sock 2 for the PSC July hearts and flowers socks from Wendy Knits in Yarn Pirate (Merlot) only three pattern repeats to go.
I am continuing on with the Purple Alsace Monster for the Easter Show Toy Cabinet. (He looks a bit like a purple Kermit at the moment without his bits).

NEW AQUISITIONS
Best of all Friday morning I was greeted by a new Yarn Club package from knitabulous. It included one ball of Mumbai Skies Lace Merino a gorgeous blue/grey.

It was accompanied by some custom dyed Blue Black lace (Baruffa CashWool) totally stunning! Thanks Ailsa (knitabulous).

And Did I mention the fantastic club drawsting bag that came with it which was immediately packed with projects for the Knitters Guild meeting on Saturday.

STARTED
I have started Cedric the Celtic dragon in the Blue Black Baruffa CashWool from Ailsa.

Birthdays, Knitting and Dust

Monday I grew a little bit older so Sunday night we had a few friends round for a small celebration. The original plan was a BBQ but dust and wind eventually put that idea to bed (the BBQ would not stay lit). We escaped to the cosy confines of the dining room and enjoyed BBQ fare finished in the oven/grill and some wine. The biggest hit was the decorate your own pavlova - always have at least one passionfruit per person...and flake bars for chocolate flakes is always popular.

I am a lucky lass and in addition to the (yet to be delivered) brand new purple laptop (yes he is well trained) I recieved some great earings from Polli (woven in blues and aquas) as well as a gift of the NSW hand weavers and spinners guild's beginner's spinning course.

Monday the family arrived and I was treated to a hand made photo frame with a pic of the family cat in "a box" another craft basket for projects and things and Transformers the game for the PS3 (no I haven't played it yet) and a beautiful Angel Face Rose bush.

The celebrations (small as they were) So knitting on the weekend between planning, cooking etc was not as prevalent as it usually is..I have finished the first of the Toe-Up Socks with contrast toe, heel and cuff and I have all but finished (1.5 squares to go) the squares for the cotton baby blanket.

The dust has slowed me down in the last day with the after affects being a sinus infection (ouch). It is on the mend and I will hopefully stop waking with searing headaches. Looking forward to a bit more knitting and some time to relax on the upcoming long weekend.
